The Must-See

le château de Lacypierre

A jewel in a haven of greenery
a hidden treasure

Located in Saint-Crépin et Carlucet, the Château de Lacypierre built between the 15th and 17th century, will echant you with its original proportions, its hexagonal tour and its impressive lauze-stone roof.

A majestic entrance

When you arrive along the top road, you can only be enchanted by this castle leaning back on the hill, in a haven of greenery, with its ocher stone and its Périgord lauze-stone covered roof.

A bit further down, the houses and the church also dressed in ocher stone and lauze-stone roofs, make this place even more special.

The towers

The polygonal tower is one of the most surprising towers, as it accommodates a spiral staircase. This tower is also called « the treasure tower », it used to be the place where the registers and documents were kept with the grain used by farmers. To protect these « treasures », the outside is covered in chalk to avoid rats and mice to climb up the walls.

The second square tower is the Justice Tower and is also the Pigeonnier Tower.

A thorough renovation

to save the castle

The property was bought in 1968 by Mrs. and Mr. LEBON but a lot of renovations were necessary to restore and stabilize the foundations of the castle, which were almost falling down. The most work was done to the Hexagonal Tower and the back façade, these parts of the castle were designed by the owners and then partly rebuilt.

A free exhibition in the shaded courtyard of the castle shows us all the renovation work done to save this splendid place.

from April to October
