The Pays de Fénelon area in the Périgord Noir


The Pays de Fénelon is the gateway to the Périgord Noir and borders the Lot and the Corrèze. Take a walk along our footpaths (250km / 155 miles) to meet our local producers and indulge in truffles, foie gras, walnuts, and other local products!


To this day, the region and its river are known for their watersports and swimming opportunities. The Dordogne River flows through the southern part of the region along the “Greenway”, which allows hikers and cyclists to discover the beauty of the countryside during every season.

The Dordogne river, classified as a “World Biosphere Reserve”, flows through the Pays de Fénelon area, a vast area of freedom with a friendly atmosphere for outdoor lovers.

This valley, rich in possibilities, will make you discover its castlesand gardens, but also its very rich and preserved fauna and flora.


In the summertime, the refreshing air and water of the valleys invite you to enjoy all kinds of aquatic activities. The many castles in the region offer exceptional views of the surrounding landscapes.

Throughout the year, the « Greenway » that runs along the Dordogne river is a wonderful way to discover the river banks in all tranquility.

More than 290 km (180 miles) of pedestrian, equestrian, mountain bike, or Nordic walking trails offer you the opportunity to discover the greenery of the vast and fascinating landscapes.

These footpaths come to life with many major events such as La Ronde des Moulins in the springtime, Les Estivales in July and August, and La Ronde des Villages in October.
