When we mention mills, most people imagine windmills. In our region though, there are hardly any wind mills! You will only find water mills hidden all over the area.

Back in the 19th century, there were over 2 700 mills in the Dordogne valley, although this number went down to less than half that amount a century later. Nowadays, passionate people and mill owners try to restore these magnificent mills, that are so often left forgotten by all!

In 2014, the Tourist Office of the Pays de Fénelon area and the APAM association created La Ronde des Moulins to promote this heritage for a whole weekend of walks.

The programm and animations

Over these two days of walking to discover the mills, an original programm is prepared every year.

You can do various loops, from 3,4 miles to 12 mile long walks, on which you will discover the mills over the area.

Mill owners specially open their doors to let you in on their secrets : the running oven the bread ovens, cooking demonstrations, bread sampling,  animations about walnuts…

There are all kinds of animations for all ages : Quizzes, workshops, wooden toys, treasure hunts…

Gastronomy from the Périgord,

all in a pleasant atmosphere

La Ronde des Moulins is also an opportunity to share pleasant moments whilst tasting local products !

Each lunchtime, it is possible to eat an « Assiette Périgourdine » (bookings are highly recommended)

On the Saturday evening you will be able to enjoy « Le Dîner des Meuniers », with a Périgord meat pie made with duck confit from local producers.
